When it comes to hair fashion blogs, there's a lot out there. Some of it instructional, some inspirational, and others simply beautiful. (Some of it is garbage, but we don't concern ourselves with those.)
Here are YGallery Salon | SoHo's top favorite hair fashion blogs:
1. Lock and Mane
Lock and Mane is a wonderland of useful tidbits. They feature easy-to-follow tutorials-- usually based on the latest celebrity hairstyles-- and all sorts of advice on hair health and maintenance.
2. Refinery29
Because we're not just obsessed with hair, we also love to hang out at Refinery29. Their daily emails are a treasure trove of trend tips on everything from hot new eyeshadow tricks, DIY hairstyles and glamorizing your headphones! We dare you to visit their site and NOT get lost in their slideshows, tutorials and glamorous photo galleries.
3. Hairdresser on Fire
This new York stylist started her blog to let her inner creative genius take the reigns and break free from the monotony of everyday blow outs. She's funny, imaginative and really knows her stuff. Kudos, Hairdresser on Fire!
4. Modern Salon
The end-all be-all of blogs for stylists, this website is probably the browser home page for stylists in the know. While its tips and features are inspirational for everyone, even the most advanced stylists can learn a trick or two from this rich online resource.
5. Hair Thursday
Apparently, we're not the only ones who love blogger Sarah James's funny, down-to-earthy obsession with hair and trying new things with it. This pharmaceutical-rep-turned-stay-at-home-mom started out advising readers how to style their hair every Thursday, and her fan base grew so fast she soon found herself on Rachael Ray and in the New York Times Style section! She includes tutorials, helpful pics and funny comments on celebrity styles, too.

A necessary part of a New York summer includes the occasional weekend getaway. Whether its a jaunt on the Jitney or a longer haul to Vegas, every so often you just have to grab a loved one (or two) and GO.
You're determined to leave the big fat suitcase behind and opt for a simple, shoulder-carried duffel bag. But WHAT, from your arsenal of haircare and styling tools and products makes the cut, and which get left behind?
They key to minimalist packing is to prepare beforehand. Swing by YGallery Salon in SoHo on Friday during your lunch break to get the perfect blow-out before your weekend excursion. Then, equip yourself with nothin' but the essentials: a blowdryer, a big round brush, and a trusty, versatile product, like Bumble and bumble.'s Grooming Creme. No matter what weather hits your destination-- be it out-of-control humidity or even the odd raincloud-- you'll have exactly what you need to look your most fabulous.
YGallery Salon Co-Owner Yoni Kreger (in the pic above) says to throw in a quarter-sized amount of the Bb Grooming Creme, even on rain-ruined hair. Then do a quick once-over taking big sections with your blowdryer and brush. You'll recapture your Friday post-salon 'do much easier and faster than if you had to shampoo and blowdry from scratch, he advises. "The Grooming Creme is like an anytime moisturizer that gives subtle hold and a satiny finish," he says.
How do you pack for a weekend blitz? What other fashion and beauty triage tips do you live by?
We're not sure if its the summer season or our rapidly growing reputation as one of the best hair salons in SoHo for keratin treatments, but whatever the case, the number of clients seeking smooth, shiny, frizz-free hair is growing exponentially.
YGallery Salon's signature keratin treatments are in such high demand, we are undertaking a renovation to our special chemical treatment room. This renovation won't take very long, but it will definitely expand our ability to help even more clients say sayounara to summer frizz.
Our newly expanding chemical room isn't just for keratin treatments, either. Take advantage of our state-of-the-art ventilation system to enjoy fume-free single process coloring or deep conditioning treatments. (And remember that a keratin treatment is the perfect time for a color treatment, as the keratin protein will help seal in the color!)
So please do pardon our appearance at the moment. Its a small price to pay for ensuring that your appearance is always at its best.
